I do not wish to receive emails from Eons or other Eons members. How do I unsubscribe?
To unsubscribe or opt out from receiving Eons emails, you will need to login to Eons so we know who you are. If you don't remember your password, simply go here and enter in your email address. We'll email your password to you.
Here are the steps to take to unsubscribe from receiving Eons emails:
- Log in to Eons.
- Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
- Click Notifications from the Account Settings menu.
- Check or uncheck the appropriate mailing list.
- Click the Update Preferences button.
How do I change my Group email notification preferences?
As an Eons group member, you will need to login so that we know who you are. You can change your group email preferences by following these steps:
- Log in to Eons.
- Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
- Click Notifications from the Account Settings menu.
- Scroll down the page to the Group Notification Preferences section.
- Choose the frequency of Group email notifications that you want to receive or choose to receive no group notifications.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Update Preferences button.
Note that you are still a member of this group and can come back and reset your email options at any time.
Why am I not receiving any notification emails from Eons or Private Message notification emails?
The Don't Send Button
On the top of the Account Settings / Notifications page view link , there is a set of buttons:
- Don't send email notifications
- Send email notifications.
The "don't send" button here overrides all your selections below it, regardless of what you have clicked for individual notifications on that page. So if you have clicked to receive the newsletter, but have the "don't send" button clicked, you will not get the newsletter. If you want the newsletter (or other digests and emails) make sure the "send" button is clicked and be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to click the "Update preferences" button. If you want the newsletter but not the notifications (or vice versa), click your selections individually. If you click the "don't send" button, it will stop all notifications through email (digests, newsletters, etc.) to you from eons.com.
Junk Mail Folder
Be sure to check your email's junk mail folder. Sometimes, emails can be mistakenly flagged as junk or spam by email providers. To keep Eons emails out of your junk mail folder, make both eonsmail.com and eons.com approved senders.
If you do not know how to designate approved senders, check the Help menu of your email provider. Refer to your email provider's help documentation for information on safe addresses and allowed senders.
Email Address Change
If you change your email address, be sure to update your email address on eons.com so that your notifications (including the newsletter) will be sent to the right address. We do not update email addresses -- you have to do that through your Account Settings view link . Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to click the "Update preferences" button.
Please Don't Report Eons as Spam!
If you report an email we send you as spam, you may be automatically removed from all email from Eons. This typically occurs through our email provider, not in Eons.com itself, so you won't get notified that this has happened.
If someone sends you a spammy PM on Eons (we try to catch them all, but it doesn't always work), you'll receive your PM notification about it in your email. If you "Report as Spam" that email, you are reporting Eons as the spammer (not the person who sent you the spammy PM). This action bars Eons from sending you any more mail.
So if you get a PM notification with spammy content, please do not report the email notification as spam in your email. Instead, go to your eons.com messages view link on the site, and flag the PM as inappropriate. That's all you have to do, and we'll take it from there.
EonsTeam Help
If you still don't get your notifications after checking these tips, send a Private Message (PM) to EonsTeam (all one word) for help.
What Happens if I change my Email Address?
You must change your email address in your Eons Account!
Eons does not accept change of email address notices. We do not update or change your email address on your account. You are responsible for doing this. If you stop receiving your email notifications from Eons after changing your email address, go to your Account Settings page and update your email address.
Are Eons email notifications like an envelope?
If you have chosen to get email notifications, the Eons email to you acts like a forwarding envelope. We take the friend request or PM message, etc., and put it in the Eons email "envelope" (we don't read or check the content), then we email that envelope to you.
The person who is sending you the PM or friend request or other Eons content never has access to your email account info.
The content is available on the site, too, so you do not need to open the email message or click the links in the message; just go to your my Eons page and see what notices you have there.
Two things:
1) DO NOT REPLY to the Eons notification envelope email. Go to the site and reply through PM to the sender (or take other action as appropriate). If you reply to that email, it will be deleted automatically and never get to the sender. Remember, it's only an ENVELOPE.
2) If you think it might be spam, on the site, you can always use the "Flag as Inappropriate" or "Abuse" links. These automatically notify us of the problem and we take action.
